In Front of Me

Standard

The sun rose gently today,

I am thankful for that.

Giving my eyes time to adjust;

Delicate light

Touches stone

And cactus.

Life around me

Stretches and yawns at once.

The birds join in

As they announce the arrival of day once again,

Happily

In synch with the natural rhythms of life.

The sun has peaked the horizon

And now burns my eyes.

For this I am grateful as well,

To set myself free of yesterdays burdens

And confusion

With breath and light,

For this is the world

Right in front of me.

Light Filter

Standard

The air is chilly now and I am wishing I had

Thrown on a sweatshirt.

I

Lay down in the ground on my belly

And prop my chin up on my hands.

The evening sun is getting lower and I love

To watch as light filters through all of the different petals and leaves.

If I squint my eyes it looks like millions of stars

Are resting amongst the flowers just like me.

Don’t

Standard

She sighs softly.

Don’t give up on me.

Don’t give up on me.

I have been fire, I have been ice.

I have been everything in-between.

I’ve been the sun, I’ve been the moon.

All of those times I have felt insane.

I have been alone in the crowd. I have been alone with myself.

I have felt alive in the crowd.

I have felt alive on my own.

I have been the instruments and the voice;

The noise itself.

I have been silence. Nothing but silence.

And I have caught myself when I have fallen.

Don’t give up on me.
